The Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors holds its monthly meeting Wednesday, October 14.

The meeting begins at 8AM in the offices of Downtown Grand Rapids Inc located at 29 Pearl Street NW.

The Board will consider:

  • Sponsorship of the 11th annual Taste of Soul Sunday hosted by Grand Rapids Public Library.
  • Funding to help complete repairs to the lighting systems on the Gillette and Pearl Street Bridges.
  • A grant to improve the streetscape around Brassworks Building.
  • Recommending approval of a revised liquor license for The Wheelhouse, a new restaurant in Arena Place currently rising at Ottawa and Oakes.
  • Approval of an extension of the option agreement on Parking Area 5.
  • A grant to support improving the façade of a vacant building on Fulton St. and help facilitate the expansion of a Downtown business.
  • Committing funding in support of urban revitalization and flood protection in Downtown GR.

The Board also will hear presentations on:

  • Development and parking transition strategies in Arena South.
  • The National Disaster Resiliency Competition.
  • The Downtown Census project.
