A new holiday and winter tradition kicks off in Downtown Grand Rapids on Friday, December 2.

The 1st annual Light Up Downtown celebration in Rosa Parks Circle is free for the public. Program highlights include:

  • GR Mayor Bliss will light the community Christmas tree.
  • Community caroling with the Holiday's Cheer.
  • Santa will meet the kids and pose for free photos.
  • The ice opens in Rosa Parks Circle. The Synchronized Skating Club of Western Michigan University will perform and provide free ice skating lessons for kids.
  • Music provided by Quinn Mathews and Gabriella De La Vega of WYCE.

The fun begins at 5PM on Friday, December 2.
