Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. (DGRI) is hosting the first annual Re(turn) to the River festival this Saturday to celebrate the riverwalk and beautiful parks in the Monroe North Neighborhood. This free event features live music and entertainment for everyone.
Attendees will enjoy a variety of performances, art, food, games and more from 555 Monroe all the way up to Canal Park.
“This is a one-of-kind event that spotlights the entire Monroe North riverfront,” said Megan Catcho, Events Manager at DGRI. “We’re really excited to bring such a diversity of art and talent Downtown in a way that lets everyone explore and appreciate the incredible public spaces we have.”
Three stages will feature a variety of music and cultural entertainment including DJs and dance music, live local and regional bands, and cultural music explorations from Motherland House Concerts, the Mexican Heritage Association and the Grand Rapids Asian Pacific Festival.
“There really will be something for everyone to enjoy and we’re very proud of the lineup,” Catcho continued. “From noon until 10 PM, all ages can dance, wander, eat, take in some amazing art and generally just celebrate this beautiful space on the river.”
Re(turn) to the River is a truly interactive music and art festival. Circus performers, body art, games and even visually-stunning shade canopies will bring the Monroe North riverwalk alive like never before.
The event continues DGRI’s on-going pursuit of the goals established in the GR Forward plan to activate public spaces, elevate the arts and foster a Downtown that is welcoming to all residents and visitors.
