The World of Winter festival draws millions of residents and visitors each year to experience visually stunning art, interactive events and the welcoming spirit of Downtown Grand Rapids.

The festival runs for approximately two months between early January and early March. It is completely free and open to all ages. In 2023, World of Winter hosted a total of over 100 art installations, ice sculptures and events. For a visual gallery of the 2023 festival, please visit worldofwintergr.org.

The 2024 festival will take place from January 12 to March 10, 2024.

The World of Winter festival celebrates the four-season accessibility and vibrancy of Downtown Grand Rapids’ public spaces. As such, all proposed installations must be able to withstand extreme winter weather. DGRI is particularly interested in installations that incorporate light and sound, as well as the ability for citizens to interact with the art.

Proposals are due by 11:00 PM on April 30, 2023.

All questions can be directed to Kim Van Driel, DGRI’s Director of Public Space Management: kvandriel@downtowngr.org. Questions must be submitted by 5:00 PM on April 24, 2023.

Full details, specifications, and submission protocol can be found in the Request for Proposals.
