The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a funding tool that Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. (DGRI) administers to help catalyze public and private investment in Grand Rapids’ urban core.

The Board met on this agenda and took the following action:
FY 24 Budget Adoption
The Board formally adopted the FY 2024 budget following approval from the City Commission on May 9. The budget includes investments in the Grand River Greenway, Downtown streets and public spaces, events and more.
DASH Service
The Board approved a three-year agreement with Mobile GR to continue support for DASH services Downtown. Enhanced service and routing of the DASH service now provides later hours and new connections to destinations throughout Downtown.
The approved agreement includes funding not to exceed $300,000 per year.
Market Avenue Riverfront Design
The Board approved funding for preliminary design of the east riverfront of the Grand River from Fulton Street to Wealthy Street. This section of riverfront will eventually provide a critical connection on the Grand River Greenway and is expected to be constructed by December 2026.
Funds were approved not to exceed $362,327.
Riverwalk Design
The Board approved funding for design and engineering services of the riverwalk from Louis Street to the Blue Bridge to satisfy new permitting requirements. The project is awaiting a final FEMA permit and is expected to start construction in FY 2024.
Funds were approved not to exceed $20,500.
Downtown Plantings
The Board approved funding for Downtown flower planting and beautification. Funds will support planting and maintenance of over 225 planting beds Downtown, including a new pilot pollinator bed.
Funds were approved not to exceed $62,725.
