Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. (DGRI) is hosting a free watch party for two international soccer matches on Sunday, June 23:
- Switzerland vs. Germany at 3:00 PM
- USA vs. Bolivia at 6:00 PM
Both matches will be shown on a giant LED screen at the south end of Las Canchas. This event is free and open to the public.
There will be four food trucks on site (Kona Ice, Arcane Pizza, Los Pinches Tacos and Dolce Mini Cakes), as well as pick-up games on the courts.
Adult beverages can be purchased at any participating business on Bridge Street and brought to Las Canchas. Free DASH service arrives every 15 minutes and parking is available for $3. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome as long as they are cleaned up after.
Las Canchas were opened in the fall of 2022 with the goal of activating underutilized surface parking by providing free access to street soccer courts for the entire community. Since the opening of Las Canchas, a new Downtown Community Garden and monthly Farmers Markets have been added to the space.
Following Sunday's watch party, DGRI will host a similar party in July featuring the Euro final match and the Copa America final match (Sunday, July 14).
